Newborn photography

Welcoming you to this page I'm super excited to congratulate you on your little family addition, whether they're on their way or have already arrived.

Those first days pass in the blink of an eye — tiny fingers, sleepy cuddles and a love that feels impossible to put into words. I’m here to capture it all for families in Maidstone and across Kent.

Newborn photography

is a very special one as it is a once in a lifetime experiance. Only once we get to capture those tiny newborn baby's details and their womb poses as their body remember them before they grow and change forever :) Newborn sessions are a fantastic way to make those memories timeless and create a keepsake you, your baby and your family will treasure for years to come!

Time frames

The ideal time frame for a newborn photoshoot is between 5–12 days of baby's life. The main reason is that newborns of this age sleep lots and very deeply, which allows us to go through the session smoothly without disturbing them. They also naturally remember the positions they were curled up in before birth, which makes this such a beautiful stage to capture.

Don't worry though if you are past this time frame - I photograph newborns up until their first month, too. And if your little one is already past those first few weeks, we can still capture this beautiful stage with a milestone session, designed to celebrate their growing personality and all those new little changes.

What to expect from your newborn session

Your newborn session is all about taking things slowly and letting your little one lead the way. Sessions usually last around 2–4 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, cuddles, settling and all the little pauses your baby may need. I never rush or force a pose — your baby’s comfort and safety always come first, and I work gently around their natural movements and sleep. I’ll take care of your little one throughout the session, giving you the chance to relax, enjoy some quiet time and simply take it all in. We’ll capture a beautiful mix of your baby on their own, those tiny details you’ll want to remember forever, and the love and connection between you as a family. My aim is for the whole experience to feel calm, relaxed and completely baby-led.

Parents & Siblings are welcome

Your newborn session is about more than just your baby - it’s about the beginning of your story together. Parents and older siblings are always welcome to be part of the photographs, capturing those beautiful connections that make your family yours. If you have older children, I’ll make sure there is plenty of time for them to be involved while keeping the experience relaxed and enjoyable. There’s no need to worry about everyone sitting perfectly or looking at the camera — some of the most meaningful images happen in the little moments of cuddles, connection and simply being together. And if you have a furry member of the family, they’re welcome too - I’d love to capture your whole family together.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to book a newborn photoshoot?

The ideal time for a newborn photoshoot is between 5–12 days after your baby is born. At this age, babies tend to sleep deeply and are still naturally curled up, which makes it easier to capture those beautiful, sleepy newborn moments. If your baby is already older, don't worry — I photograph newborns up to 1 month old too.

What happens if my baby is older than 12 days?

Absolutely nothing to worry about! Every baby is different, and there is no need to miss out on your newborn photoshoot just because your little one is past the 5–12 day window. I photograph babies up to 1 month old, and we simply work with their individual needs and personality.

If your baby is already past the newborn stage, a milestone session can be a beautiful way to capture all those new little changes, expressions and personality.

How long does a newborn photography session take?

Newborn sessions usually last around 2–4 hours. We take our time and allow plenty of breaks for feeding, cuddles, settling and changing your baby. There is no need to rush — your baby's comfort always comes first.

What if my baby doesn't sleep during the session?

That's completely fine! I never force a baby to sleep or force a particular pose. Your baby leads the session, and we simply work with whatever they are comfortable with on the day. Some of the most beautiful photographs happen during those awake, curious little moments too.

Do I need to bring clothes for my baby?

I provide the newborn outfits and wraps used during the session. Your baby will often be photographed in simple, natural setups, sometimes wearing just a nappy or wrapped comfortably. You can bring a plain, natural-coloured baby vest if you'd like, along with any special outfit or sentimental item you'd love to include.

Can parents and siblings be included in the photos?

Of course! Your newborn session is about your whole family, not just your baby. Parents and siblings are always welcome to be part of the photographs, and I love capturing those natural moments of cuddles, connection and simply being together.

Can we bring our family pet to the newborn session?

Yes! Your furry family members are welcome too. I would love to capture your whole family together and include your pet in some photographs where it feels comfortable and safe for everyone.

What should parents wear for the newborn session?

For family photographs, I recommend simple clothing in neutral or natural colours without large logos or busy patterns. If you'd like photographs on a darker background, dark tops work beautifully; for lighter backgrounds, lighter neutral colours are lovely. If siblings are joining, choosing colours that work well together can help create a timeless look.

Can I bring something special to include in the photographs?

Definitely. If there is something meaningful you'd love to include, please bring it along. This could be a handmade outfit, a special toy, a blanket or another sentimental item. These little details can make your photographs even more personal and meaningful.

What should I bring to my newborn photography session?

There are a few essentials you'll want to bring, such as nappies, wipes, a muslin and anything your baby may need during the session. If your baby is bottle-fed, please bring enough formula for the session too. You can also bring a dummy if your little one uses one, their moisturiser if they have dry skin, and any special items you'd like to include in their photographs.

You don't need to bring lots of things - I'll have everything else ready for your baby's session.

Your baby is in safe hands.

As a newborn photographer, I'm fully trained and experienced - I have cuddled and photographed hundreds of babies already and I'm always looking forward to meet new families! I always put my 100% and my whole heart into every single session! :)

If you’re welcoming a new little soul into your life, I’d be honoured to help you remember these early days. Let’s create something meaningful together, full of love, warmth, and the quiet magic of your growing family.
